Recently I learnt how to surf. And it made me think of a metaphor for life …

We can spend our lives trying to “catch” the wave – like the highs and lows, thrills and excitements of life. But if we do this – we will forever be looking for the next adrenalin, the next high – and never truly be fulfilled.

Or we could just sit back, and enjoy the flow of ocean (life) and see where it takes us.

Totally surrender.

+ Drifting.
+ Floating.
+ Letting go.
+ Being.
+ Slowing down.
+ Watching.
+ Bliss.
+ Trust.

We may just be floating around for a while – but that’s ok – what’s the rush anyway?

We may be taken to exotic islands that we never conceived or imagined were possible. We may be taken to some perceived scary places. But you are going with the flow of a greater intelligence and trusting it. Trusting it will always be there to protect you, and you are content just knowing that you will always be ok. That wherever you are and end up is exactly where you are meant to be.

Those short term highs are exactly that – short term. They are only temporary – and most of us spend our lives constantly looking for the next thing to do or person to be with – just to feel some kind of ‘high’.

But you will spend your whole life looking for what could be ‘out there’ and missing the magic and divine simplicity in the present moment.

You will literally miss LIFE!

After a state of ‘high’ is the inevitable low. Why? Because your state of being always goes back to neutrality to maintain its equilibrium and balance. So it’s actually not a ‘low’ but the original state perceived that way because of the contrast of the previous high or elevated emotions. So how do you transcend these highs and lows? Either accept it or commit to maintaining a life that keeps you on that calm neutral middle line state.

People say they want to end the ‘drama’ in their lives but they are actually addicted subconsciously to the highs, thrills and lows of life.

You can keep riding the highs and lows of the wave, but eventually you will get tired and want out. You’ll want to just be able to lay on your board, surrender to the current and go with the flow…

Love and Light, Ra
